running a metric need ballpark figure on front springs 3200 lbs I was running 1000Rf 900Lf lr 200 RR 175. i was told by another driver he thinks my spring rates were to high. suggested 750 left right850 1-1/4 bar 175 lr 150 rr ??. of course other drivers wont tell you the real deal. need some input.
next problem power steering has always turned good except when scrubing in tires .hard left barely any assist hard right barely any assist changed pump 2nd time and gear box 2nd time is there a orifice or spool valve in the pump that i can change to decrease effort at steering wheel not sure on brand of pump but block mount and gear box is a Z box

when the steering is hard are the rpm's low? if the amount of effort needed depends on the rpm's you may have too much underdrive with the pulleys, try going to a larger power steering pump pulley.
as for the springs, every chassis is different, every driver is different and every track is different. hard to say...

half mile? quarter? ashphalt? dirt? high bank? relatively flat? what chassis? metric? chevelle? rules for weights?
point is, theres so many freakin factors. i asked some of the veterans to get a good baseline, then you can tweak from there to suit your driving style.

Right theory, wrong direction. Larger P/S pulley will turn the pump slower. If it only happens when scrubbing the tires, I'd just live with it. The 12x mod does that and it has the trick-daddy box and P/S pump and pulley set... it's sweet when your racing though.

Same experience for me.

oh yeah, thanks for catching that.... whoops!

Rick- Are you running a quickener? I wouldn't think so, but if you are, you could be trying to force more fluid through the gearbox than it is capable of flowing.
I spend a couple hundred bucks to have my gearbox ESD ported to allow more fluid flow.

I have talked to Arnie(Tricknology) about spring rates and we both agree that there are some huge differences in springs that drivers run at Flat Rock, and they all run the same, or close to the same times, I don't think you are to far off with your front springs what size bar do you have now? what are your shock travels? are you sure your a arms moves freely thru travel? have you ever checked your bump steer? and finally have you ever squared your car? I would run tall ball joints top and bottom to get your camber gain better by getting more angle in your upper a arms and get your roll center closer, do you run spring cups? if you do make sure your shocks arnt hitting on them this happens all the time and you end up bottoming out and not knowing it causing a push, I could go on and on, but the bottom line is if you use basic common sense you can get your car alot faster without alot of cheating, I would stay away from too soft front setups with out getting into anti dive and alot of other things that come with alot more front end travel, if you knew what we go thru to get things to work with coil bind at RWR
you wouldnt belive it

When did he say anything about Flat Rock, or is that what you and Arnie talked about? If you are racing at Flat Rock depending on the division your racing in the person to talk to is Brian Norton.

We were talking about Flat Rock, Arnie was picking my brain on some springs & stuff last year, but the same applies to most any track, the spread in springs is huge but the cars run the same times, Brian certainly knows how to get around the Rock, as does Arnie, that place is about 40 percent car and 60 percent driver, i would concentrate on making laps and learning the track, not constantly changing the car
