Rumor has it that any timing chain set that has more than 3 keyways in crank gear will be disqualified in sleds.

Where did you hear that? I wonder how it is that practically all they do is scale the FS, but we have an hour in tech every night. Not that I care but it seems silly when your paying 100 bucks to win. I will be there tomorrow, hopefully ill finish high enough to have to spend an hour in tech. Well I hope I can do well at Owosso with 2" exhaust 7" rims and a questionable gear! Will you guys be there Mike. I picked Chris to win Lol. No disrespect to the Owosso guys I know theve got some very fast cars.

This is Mike and I was told thet right from the main tech guy. I personally think it is goin a little too far. As far as Owosso Chris is goin up north so the only way our car will be there is if I drive it,Thinkin bout it but I am skeered I might have alot of work to do after so prob not.

haha! Thats funny Chris or Mike. AC is going to get rid of some cars are they. Thats too bad. I really hope they figure it out. You cant start a witch hunt in the middle of the season what is wrong with them. Well thats OK, I guess I said something about one of them and he's out to get me anyway. Even though I really like all the techs there that I know. Especially John he's a really good guy. Oh well you cant win em all. Well I cant seem to win any.lol
If they told me hey your crank has 3 keyways your dqed I would not be able to race there for the rest of the year as the crank that I have is my crank. It doesnt apply to me but if it did Id be bummed out.

My understanding was that 3 was OK more than 3 was not. Ours is 9 so were illegal now. LMAO

Aren't they going a little far on waisting peoples time and money in the tech barn for things that really dont matter, so run a single keyway with a hex-adjust what's the issue? Or If it really matters have the cam ground the way you want it and run a stock replacement chain. I dont think i will ever understand the thinking rolleyes.gif

And no offense to you Mike but why in the heck does it seem that the tech guys seem to tell you the items they wish to tech the following weekend, I mean if they are telling you who else are they telling and why?? What is the point to teching anything at all if certain individuals know ahead of time? Seems as if it kind of ruins the whole idea of random tech inspections dosen't it?

In my opinion i haven't been impressed with the teching procedures this year so far but, it does seem as if they are trying harder, just in the wrong ways...

I guess we will just have to wait and see...

well Greg the way this happened was I'm putting our 400 back together and I read the cam rules and all it has it a lift rule, nothin else. Like one guy said on here why can't we run a hydraulic roller,GM puts them in stock engines,Well I was told no which I expected and was also told no hexadjust or cam gears with more than 3 keyways.Maybe I just ask alot more Questions than others and thats why I get answers.Regardless If this is true than ours is illegal and will stay that way cause thats chicken "I think my diapers are full" teching to me.Who wants to pay to have their cam special ground for 100 bucks to win? Owosso is lookin real good to us we'll wait and see. You'll never know if you don't ask!!!! AC techs will tell ya anything ya want to know, ask em

There are a million things that could be checked, Bottom line is which things should be the priority? Lower cam gears would be one of the BIGGEST wastes of time

I cannot see any reason why a multi-keyway would be an issue. What's next start degreeing cams to see if someone advanced or retarded it? Request cam cards?? If someone has the knowledge or wants to better themselves by degreeing a cam I feel they should be praised for wanting to improve their knowledge and tuning skills, not disqualified..

Actually If a person reads the rules for what they are all sbc engines should be running a stock t-chain and gears Not the double rollers anyways. I do not always agree with the rules or the tech procedures, but do understand that racers and team members must play by the rules decided by the tech officals and track on that day wether we feel they are right or wrong.. So i guess we need to learn to live with it and take it for what it is.. I do believe they are trying to improve things though..

And I am in no way trying to upset anyone or take sides as i like to think i usually am neutral in most everything at the track and just like to help guys out.. 3gears.gif
