last night's storm caused a huge tree to fall on jim kennedy's [yellow mod #45] race car garage. the tre flatten the garage and is on top of the car. we're going to try and pull the car out tonight. it did land on the back of the car. the front doesn't look hurt. jim and myself were suppose to be in the garage at that very moment, putting his new cam in. luckily, the cam didn't make it in shipping yesterday. i guess jim and me and maybe tony [he was suppose to be there too] are blessed. anyway, it's a big mess and we'll start cleaning up tonight.

That sucks! Hopefully all is well and the insurance will do what they can on the garage.

Yes, very blessed.

A shame it happened, glad no one was working on the car at the time, as it could have been a lot worse.

Jim, You're gonna have to leave some of the crunched sheetmetal on the car the next time it comes to the track, you never know, it might give you an aero advantage?

have a good day, and glad it wasn't worse.

See you soon,

That's kinda what we've been goin for on the 12x... Everything on the car is "pre-disatered"...We don't have enough data collected to understand whether it's working or not. Only one of it's drivers seems to be able to finish a race. icon_redface.gif

Hate to hear the bad news. We've been friends with Jim and his pops ever since I started racing.

I stopped by the house on my way to work this morning to check out the damages. The car doesn't look too hurt, but there's no way to know until we remove the giant tree and garage roof from it. The way the tree fell if we had been working on the motor most likely we would have lived. All though there would have been three piles of poo to clean up...LOL!

I think this will go down as the weirdest reason I've heard of a race car needing a rear clip. Either way I'm glad we're all here to talk about it.

Jim - Sorry to hear about your luck. Windpushers is now open again if you need a rear clip. Same phone number. Comprehensive cover race cars? Main thing is you are all ok. Garages & cars can be fixed. Larry & Diane

Talked to Jim this morning and they have gotten the car out of his garage and he is glad to report that there is very minimal damage, which appears to be mostly sheet metal.

The garage and other items like welder, air compressor, tire changer etc, did not fair so well.

The good thing is it appears his wife had spent the extra $$ for an insurance premium that covered 100% of content loss.

Gov,

See,

told ya,

Aero advantage!!!!!!!!!!

Glad it appears as if things weren't as bad with the car, but sorry about the garage and the rest of your tools. A damn shame.

have a good day,

All,
well after bracing what was left of the roof and crawling through the rubble and under the oak tree that was 11' 6" in circumference we lowered the hoist the final 3' and pulled the car out.
The only thing that was holding the tree up on the north end was the coats tire machine and on the other end a steel welding bench and my lathe (what was left of it).
We were lucky the cam did not come in on time! the only way we all would have survived was if we were all standing at the west end of the shop, and that was not likely.
The damage to the car looks repairable, we should be out before the end of the season for a few more races, I will bring pictures to Spartan the next time we race.
This has to be the first time that I'm not mad about a part not arriving on time so we could go racing, can you imagine Pop's, Pasto Sr. Tony P. and myself with all the years we have been driving and for all of us to be taken out by a TREE. The crane is supposed to arrive today to lift the main section off the tree from the building and I will see what is left, thank goodness for insurance.
Just want to say thank you to those that offered to help and those who came over and helped clear debris.
