Well were back sort of,not in the print of the Marc-Times but on the mstrc.I want to thank Dick Beebe for the chance to write for 4yrs in what i thought was one of the best race papers in the midwest.Like Ed and Matt i would wait on saturdays for my Marc -Times to come.I know this is a Michigan message board but i am from the Buckeye state and that's probably strike one against me but like the Marc-Times if you didn't like the column you don't have to read it.I'm not saying i'm right in everything i write but i'll be the first to admit when i'm wrong.I want thank Chuck for a chance to write on here and will do the best we can to keep the tradition of the Marc-Times on this website along with Stockcarextreme on there website as well. It's a honor to write along with some legends in the business such as Ron Verash,Gary Lindhal, big Ed, and wood.I use to enjoy reading hollywoods article and based some of my column on the way he wrote his ,i hope your not mad at me wood.If you don't know me i'm from Cleveland,oh and i write about late model racing on asphalt from all over the midwest and points south. Well this past weekend we made the one hour trek over to Sandusky Speedway with my dad and good friend Mike who also use to write for Marc-Times in the mid 90's. It was race 6 of the Main Event Racing series and their were 20 late Models on hand and Toledo speedway regular Harold Fair Jr set fast time on the night. The invert was 10 which put Bret Jursik and Don Mahaffey Jr on the front row. At the start Jursik took the lead as the field settled in.The man on the move however was Tim Ice.Ice was able to pass some pretty strong cars including Fair Jr,Rich Rorher and Jimmy Carter to name a few.Fair Jr ended up going to the pits for repairs and went a couple laps down. But clearly the class of the field was Jursik as Ice closed in a few times late but couldn't make the pass as Jursik won 1st Main Event late model win over Ice,Mahaffey3rd, Carter 4th,and whipkey 5th.Jursik lead all 100 laps and won 2500 for the victory at Sandusky.Speaking of the Main Event Series 2 of their races got cancelled and now are off of the schedule Owosso and Lorain those were 2 tracks i was looking forward to going to.I think they would have had 30 plus cars at Owosso to bad.I see Boris Jurkovic won the CRA race at Plymouth and Tom Thomas won the 100 lapper at Berlin. On a sad note a Columbus Motor Speedway champion in the Late Model division Big Bird Robbie Dean passed away of cancer on July 3rd RIP Big Bird. Well next up for me will be at Lake Erie Speedway for 150 lap late model feature.Last year Michigans own Brian Campbell won over 9000 at this event last year.Should be a great show Well i'm proud to be aboard on the mstrc and if the replies are positive will be back see around the asphalt
