Matt Prieur Resigns Effective Immediately from the ASA Late Model Series!
By M.P.H. Promotions

Ovid, Michigan (Wednesday, July 16, 2008): Effective immediately, Matt Prieur, who has served as the Director of Media and Public Relations and Public Address Announcer with the ASA Late Model Series since the 2005 racing season, has resigned!

"I'm looking ahead to the 2009 racing season and what better time than now?" Prieur said. "I'm going to explore other options within the industry and see what's out there."

"It's just like a driver wanting to better themselves and move up the ranks, officials are the same way and I look forward to the new challenges I will face in the near future." He added.

For the immediate future, Prieur will still maintain his Public Relations business, M.P.H. Promotions and will honor all existing client obligations for the remainder of the 2008 racing season!

After working two events under the original USPRO Cup Series in 2003 and one event in 2004 under the ASA Late Model Series banner, Prieur was offered the chance to serve as Master of Ceremonies for the 2004 ASALMS Awards Banquet.

Soon after that awards banquet, Prieur, originally from Flint, Michigan and now calls Ovid, Michigan home along-with his Wife of over 2 1/2 years, Elaine, was hired full-time as the Director of Media / Public Relations and P.A. Announcer beginning with the 2005 racing season.

Over his tenure with the ASALMS, Prieur was the series Webmaster maintaining all three ASALMS websites with duties including news content, driver profiles, points, race previews, race recaps, photo galleries, posting team press releases, race event information, entry forms, entries, and historical information.

In addition to his Public Announcing duties on race day, the 33-year-old (Soon to be 34 on July 24, 2008) also set-up the tower on race days by getting the computer equipment and transponder scoring system up to par with each tracks' individual requirements.

Once the tower was complete, the 19-year Announcing veteran would then conduct all Drivers, Crew Chiefs, and Spotters Meetings while also serving a role in Tech with regards to Decals and Patches that teams were required to have. In addition, conducting all Pre-Race Ceremony activity with regards to dignitaries and V.I.P.'s before Driver
Introductions.

In addition to those numerous tasks, he also was instrumental in providing the "ASALMS LIVE" Feature with race day updates from each facility throughout each and every race weekend for those fans who couldn't make it out to an event.

The "ASALMS LIVE" feature was complete with Practice, Qualifying, and Race Results from every race weekend along-with Photos from former ASALMS Photographer, the late Bob Milner, and continuing on with current ASALMS Photographer, Chuck Gonzalez.

As for Prieur's company, M.P.H. Promotions was founded in June of 2005 and specializes in marketing and the promotional aspects of short track auto racing teams throughout North America. M.P.H., saw a need for promoting the drivers of the present and the aspiring talents of the future in the short track motorsports community.

"One of the hardest things for a race team to do is secure that major sponsor. Without proper media and public relations, no one knows who you are or what you've accomplished now or in the past." Prieur added.

"It's one thing to get some companies logo on your race car for "x" amount of dollars, while it's entirely another thing to convince that business to write a check with a lot of zeros in it. That's where good P.R. comes in." He ended.

M.P.H. Promotions can handle all your weekly press release needs as well as sponsorship proposals and motorsports resumes. All in an effort to promote the drivers of the present and the future of our sport, today!

Changes are often nerve racking. but almost always for the best of the individual. Wishing you the best on your future endeavors, and trusting that you will continue to be a postive force for short track racing.

Hey Man Good Luck With Whatever You Do.

It's official, I have no reason to go to an ASALM race now. stirthepot.gif
Where are you going to be doing those famous on track intro's so I can head out and catch one this year wood?
MyOpinion
That's quite the shocker. I can only begin to wonder what the future may hold for Michigan's best announcer.

I'll start a new rumor..

I'd bet, as an owner of a race track, that the current track announcer for Owosso Speedway is discovering he is too busy to be in the booth on race night..

And since Matt has expertise and history at Owosso.. and since there is a new Owosso Speedway website on the way.. and MPH promotions is an expert in the race website field..

If a person was to put two-and-two together.. they might find Hollywood returning to the Big O
stinkfist
Im sure there are many ways Matt could help Owosso. If I was a bettin man I'd bet he has already been in some dicussions with Jeff.
lilmikhun
H-Wood back at the big O????? Man I don't know if I could stand being in the tower all night listening to him yap away.... stirthepot.gif

Matt,

Keep us up to date on wherever the race gods take you.

The ASALMS will not be the same to me without you there.

To all wondering.

Matt will not post under this part of the forum. He will let everyone know in a different part of Club.
Thank you for all the encouraging phone calls, emails and posts, it is very much appreciated.
It has been a very difficult week for us and we are ready for some local short track racing this weekend if Mother Nature allows.

Thank you

I hate to hear phrases like that.

I was just curious why he posted a different announcement here about his resignation than he did on the Kalamazoo website.

Is it because Ron Varney is a member on this site?

Matt Prieur Resigns Effective Immediately

from the ASA Late Model Series!

Ovid, Michigan (Wednesday, July 16, 2008): Effective immediately, Matt
Prieur, who has served as the Director of Media and Public Relations
and Public Address Announcer with the ASA Late Model Series since the
2005 racing season, has resigned!

"The owners of the series have strayed away from the original concept
and ideas that made the series so successful, that is until recently."
Prieur explained. "In good conscience and to protect my reputation and
preserve my dignity, I can no longer support a concept I no longer
believe in!"

"I'm looking ahead to the 2009 racing season and what better time than
now?" He ccontinued. "I'm going to explore other options within the

Seems as though he left this section out on the MSTRC

racerLuc,

And your point here is?

Are you aware of something that the rest of us aren't?

Or is this an attempt to take a swipe at a very good announcer, who likely introduced you at one time or another, unless you are a fan trying to stir the pot.

Not worth putting that paragraph here, the post herein was by Matt, and was what he wanted to have here on this site. His words, therefore his privelege to edit as seen fit. Different site, different thoughts, different decision on his part.

have a good day,

schinde
schinde
Of which you're very correct.

However, I personally see no use in it. And frankly was curious of the motive. Which is why I rendered an opinion on racerLuc's post. Especially with the Ron Varney commentary in his first post, and the "seems he" portion of his second one.

Maybe I'm wrong. If I am, so be it.

Nonetheless, I wish Matt Prieur the very best, and needn't know anything other than he was very good for ASALMS, and a top notch find for anywhere he lands.

have a good day,

schinde
kaycorbgm
racerLuc have you EVER said something or written something that you have rethought and retracted what you said?
That is why the press release was edited...but maybe you are one of the creatures that feed on weaknesses of others to TRY to make yourself look better. Go for it.

As the saying goes "Only the Strong Survive".
He will survive and the series will survive.

Matt is the one who printed it, I asked why he had 2 different ones. If he made a mistake and felt it was out of line he should print a retraction.

I felt the comments were extremely unproffesional and because Matt is a member of this board it must have offended people that I pointed it out. I apologize for questioning Matt's words.

I also thought it was odd that there were two different versions of the resignation floating around. I don't think anyone is stirring the pot, just asking a simple question because it doesn't make sense.

kaycorbgm
AND it was clearly answered five post ago if you would read it.

Claude is just stirring the pot because it is his family and quite frankly I would prolly do the same with family involved but it was answered so why keep it up??? Got the answer got on with stirring the pot with some other thread Claude...
pmcnamara
with everything that is happening with Matt and Claude's dad and all.. I think this thread should be "moderated" and cleaned up
USPRO
I certainll hope this is the last comment on this thread and it just fades away or is locked. I have sat back and read the comments and have said nothing until now.

I really do wish Matt all the best, Matt was a very big part of the ASA Late Model Series and its success over the last few years. Matt and I have had some very good times and some big disagreements. I harbour no hard feelings or ill will towards Matt.

The reasons that Matt is now doing something else are mutiple and many, but also none of anyone's business but Matt and me! Matt will continue to build his MPH Promotions and his teams in the ASA Late Model Series will hopefully play an important part in that. For the record he is not barred from the track or unwelcome, in fact I fully expect to see him at some events later this year.

Thanks,

Ron Varney
President

Thank you for clearifying that Ron. People love to dwell on stuff they know nothing about.

PS how about posting on MSL where the 3 stooges are having a hay day!!
