I guess K-Zoo doesn't share Owosso's sentiment of not running Mods against Racin and Rockin

Wow...what a NO class thing to do.
This is the exact reason why short track racing is having difficultly in Michigan.

This really grinds me. They are using R n R IV publicity to draw MODS to the area AND then say....."drive 20 miles more and race here."
This would be totally another thing if this KZOO race was on the schedule along. R n R dates was picked because other tracks were not having MODS on that date.
I guess they heard the promo on the radio and thought "hey, we should have MODS on that night too."
Next thing you know....we will hear they are having a band afterwards called the Attic Cats.

K-Zoo is just doing what they need to do to stay on top of their game. No big deal, no malicous intent I'm sure.
Good luck to them.
Racin & Rockin at Springport Speedway is still the must attend event of the summer for both fans & drivers.

I just hope that with the rain that we are getting the water isn't going to be coming out of that track because then it won't be such good racing.

We haven't had a problem with this for quite a few weeks Aaron. And with the weather forecast for this week, it even looks like it will be less of a worry.
While it may not be malicious, it does make one wonder. I do believe that Spartan/Springport management has always got along well, and worked with K-zoo management throughout the history of the present promoters. I am still quite surprised by this announcement. I certainly never seen this one coming.
I guess we'll just have to see if it has any effect. I know it won't slow any of us down. It's full steam ahead, we know what we're offering, and what this event is capable of supplying.

first of all folks, gary did not do this to take cars from your show. we run there regularly and have only raced there 1 time in the last 7 weeks, and only 6 times all season, because of rain and/or scheduled dates off. our regulars, including myself asked gary to consider running all the classes this week because of all of the off nights lately. he had some sponsors who wanted to do something and so he scheduled a triple 50 race for mods, late models and sportsmans paying a $1000.00. gary is the last guy to try and effect shows and his scheduling of this show will have little to no effect on your show at springport. angola is running mods for $1000.00 as well this weekend, so best of luck to all on thier shows this weekend and lets hope for lots of cars and great racing at every track.

Yep, agreed. No problems here Gonzo.
I didn't consider all the rainouts y'all have suffered Todd, It's been tough on a lot of tracks this year. How's the Mod world treatin ya? I still remember your awesome run at the Michigan Cup last year!!!!!
I hope all venues prosper and have some great weather, and racing this upcoming weekend.

Would this be like...oh...I dunno...eastside tracks now extending their seasons to go up against the Super Shoe...even running shows with THE SAME RULES PACKAGE that weekend?
Seems some projectiles being thrown from glass houses...then again...anything the Westside does is wrong, just by definition.
(Sorry...I forgot...I'm not supposed to give a s**t anymore...)

I don't get the correlation of Springport to an "east side" track?
People run this race to give back to the sport, and try to save a track that is notorious for having a tough go of it. Go wherever you want, just go somewhere. Kzoo is free to do what they want.
Weekly classes will never get along and do what's best for this sport in this state, the sooner we all realize that and give up the better. At least there isnt a whole bunch of dixie vs auto city drama here... oh wait....

Point is...look at Kalamazoo's Mod results...they pull ONE (1) Modified from more than 20-30 miles away! This show was announced too late to make the race papers...(oh wait, I forgot)...so it's not an attempt to hurt anyone else...hell, it wasn't even posted here by anyone who represents the track...yet K-zoo is bashed.
It's a special purse for their regulars...since their regulars aren't going to leave (remember the tire impound) and no one else comes in...
This affects Springport...not at all!
Enjoy the show you're at...there's ten-of-thousands of people in Michigan who you're NOT getting to come to any given short track in the state...stop worrying about the 5 or 10 who might leave to visit somewhere else from time-to-time.

This is going to be one packed house at Kzoo!! Car counts have been building all year and between the purses this week and the last three weeks of people having time to work on cars it should really kick butt! Race and win a big purse or spectate and win gas cards - either way a winner.

Ed, the mod world is a different world to say the least. have not had a great car yet, but we have gotten better each week we have had it out, be it very few. i said and determined thus far that a modified is 2/3rds late model and 1/3 street stock and you have to make all of it work together. that would be my best assumption thus far. lots of set-ups, shocks changes, spring changes, brake pad changes.....etc.etc. i do, however, enjoy it alot and would not go back to another class for anything. love the open air, loud mufflers and open wheels. we have a pretty good group ofr guys and we have been putting our heads together and getting better. thanks for asking. if the mods wind up running at the michigan cup, if it is run, we will be coming up. maybe even 1 time before the cup. again, good luck to all the shows this weekend.

Not sure I buy in completely on that. I bet a couple guys would have came to Springport. Tires dont matter, you'd want to buy American Racers anyhow.
BAH! who am I kidding? I've only been around pavement modified racing in MICHIGAN for 18years.
