Awesome! Just Awesome!
Every year this show turns out being more than anticipated.
Shinde,
Thanks again for all the hard work. I know this takes a lot of your personal time for this event, and we all look forward to it every year. Also special thanks to Mary the woman behind the man. We all know it takes a special woman to keep up with a man's hobbies. Thanks to every one who has helped put this show on. I applaud every one.
Let's go racin!!!!!!
For those mods thinking of running there that have never been there.
Fast time is usually around 15.60 - 15.80, race speeds around 15.90 - 16.10 (I'll add ish)
Gear range is anything from 5.29 - 5.88
5.63 with a 350 - 400ci (medium output engine) turns around 7000rpm (plus or minus a couple hundred RPM's) depending on track and weather conditions.
The track is very weather sensitive. Hopefully if anyone was curious that answered some questions.

I wonder if fast qualifier will feel like rolling the dice and start at the rear to pick up hard charger $$ and prize??? That alone would be quite the chunk of change. Didn't last year's fast Q make $300.00??
Also don't forget....all classes will receive a trophy for the fast qualifier. Hint......it takes 2 AA batteries along with looking oh so cool.

I would like to add $100.00 more to the modified purse. If it's OK I would like it to be $50.00 more to the winner, $30.00 more for second, and $20.00 more for third. I'm not going to be at Spartan Friday so I'll bring it to Springport Sat. Thanks. Tom S.

Gov????? Perry??? OZ????
Why a Hard Charger Award????? Because the fans want to see passing.

I'm predicting so much passing in the mod feature that Big Ed will need to take a nap after calling the Mod feature.

Oh Lack of Diesel is gunning for it. I'll be tuning Friday night for Saturday. I'm at least gunning for fast time. I want the title back, and I want the trophy. Although Dan is in the car that I set fast time in at R&R2.
I'm looking for Fast Time and Hard Charger, it's going to be tough coming all the way from the back for the win but it's worth it. (in fact I told my Teammate it'll be fast time with a 15.62, but don't tell anyone.)

This isn't skins.
Perry's lap that he's using and the Gov's lap added together. Can't use a lap that is lost if you partake of the add a lap option and go slower. Same for you and your dad.
Now you will have to think...hmmm.....do I go first and do I wait...........do I try and better my time or will I lose my time.......decisions......decisions.......do you let your crew chief make the call?????
Do you wait until the track is hot or do you go early before the clouds come???? Decisions....decisions.
schinde
Jul 22 2008, 09:35 PM
All those decisions are going to make your head's hurt.
But remember, no dilly-dallying. When you are called for the Add A Lap sessions, you can't be a-thinkin' and a-wondrin' and a-waitin', you gotta be a-goin'.
So, make sure you're heads aren't hurting, and turn that faster lap.
Dynochick, keep 'em stirred up, you'll have Gavin, Mike, Perry and Dan so fired up they will drive their a**es off just to win that side bet.
Just what R&R is about.

I think it should be Veterans against young-guns... Dan and Roger Vs Perry and Gavin. That would be fun wouldn't it?
Dynochick- you know you picked a long shot don't you? not that the cars aren't fast, but being VERY part-time makes qualifying tough.
Still fun either way though.

Here's a suggestion... this is a way that you four guys could have a competition where there is only one person winning.
First, you have two teams: Dan/Perry vs Roger/Gavin
Next you have older vs younger: Dan/Roger vs Perry/Gavin
The idea is to end up with one "double" winner. For instance, if the Dan/Perry team wins and the Perry/Gavin team wins, then Perry is the overall winner. So, Perry would not only be rooting for Dan to go fast, but he would also be rooting for Gavin to go fast!
If the Roger/Gavin team wins and the Dan/Roger team wins, then Roger is the overall winner.
Hmmm.... you could also have one double loser. In the first case, Roger is the overall loser. In the second case, Perry is the overall loser.

On the young/old thing you guys are actually spot on, I think Perry and I are the same age, and my dad is slightly older than Dan.

OK gang, let's not make this too complicated. Let's just stick with something that is easy enough to explain. I will have a full plate this Saturday already, without having to go through the rules of a side bet, like announcing the rules for the 60 lap Pony Feature!!!!
We DO have some time restraints here boys!!!
And we have a lot of RACIN' to do, then a lot of ROCKIN'
KISS - Keep it simple stupid!!!!!

Egads!!! I just spent 10 minutes writing a reply and lost it.
Yes...I thought about the fact that Roger usually only races a couple of times a year. Though he did finish in front of Perry, Dan, and Gavin the last time...dig dig LOL.
Also I thought about the fact that Gavin has limited time in the Mod.
But I kinda like the Young guns against the Geritol Duo. Gosh I hope The Gov doesn't throw Jello shots at me for that AND please no one tell Roger...I have to live with him.
We have some time yet to decide but I kinda like Mopar's idea too. Would that work if any other duos want to partake (no ringers please)? Maybe 10 bucks a duo. Winner takes all. Just ideas. We can finalize before Saturday.
I wish I could find this old photo of the Mod drivers at the first mod race at Springport (Ideal back then). I've never seen so much hair. Hair down to their shoulders and hair all over their faces. They were a furry bunch back then. The Gov and Roger are in the photo and I think Mingus, I can't remember who else.

How's this sound:
We keep it Dan and I Vs. Gavin and Roger (or any other side bets that may exist). But the twist.....................After 2nd round qualifying and everyone knows the fastest times. We cut paper with how ever many qualifiers we have. All four of us draw. Whatever number we draw is the position and time we get. Then we'll take those four and either add them up for a total or divide them for the fastest average.
Whatcha think?
Dan,
There is also one fast time..............coincidently............at Sprinport
Pasto1389
Jul 23 2008, 12:33 PM
I'm not sure I completely follow this whole idea......but if we're going with old/young teams I'd be willing to team up with a older driver and give it a shot!
What are we talking about for a wager?
I bet Dan could give some insight as to how many fast times my car has had over the years??? My best so far was 3rd quick at Spartan last year and wouldn't you know who knocked me out of 2nd? Dan himself
Side Note: The car I drive is Dan's old car.
governor
Jul 23 2008, 01:35 PM
Tony,
Never kept track of fast times, but I'm guessing it would be over 150. After all that car has had 63 or 64
feature wins. One year @ Spartan we were fast time 12 or 13 times and that is when it paid 100.00 each time.
Just for the record, that car is about 18 years young now and still gets around very well.

I think we should guess the price of a racing part, then drop a plinko chip, and that determines the dollar amount of the bet, plus the price difference of the acutal price of the racing part vs the "guessed" price.
