i have a 1987 corvette and every time i take the gas cap off it releases lots of pressure. i have been having a problem with the car stalling could that cause it? thanks

Sounds like vapor lock. Could be a plugged evap system. Check the cannister and make sure the charcoal is still good.

Not likely it is the cause. It should be sucking in some air when you open the cap if the evap system is working but if you open it on a hot day near empty it may have pressure to blow at you. Do some basic diagnostics and look for vacuum leaks or stuck egr and things like that. Bad idle motor maybe.

Vapor lock is a completely different thing. That occurs in the fuel supply line when the gas boils and is vapor and probably has pressure but it makes it hard for the fuel pump to push liquid fuel to the carb or injectors.
