okay here's my predicament, I have a whole bunch of 8 inch asphalt wheels, the track allows 10 inch with bead locks. When I get back I will talk to Doc over at 3 mules welding about finding somebody with some used 5 on 5 wheels like this but I don't know how many I can dig up.The wheels I have would be less than ideal but in the interest of being able to afford this I have to be able to use as many pieces as I can that I already have. So here is the plan, I convert a few wheels to bead locks for spares for the tire rack or if I had to I could run them as I accumulate more parts. has anybody ever installed a bead lock on a steel wheel? is it real tough? I can weld pretty good and my buddy is a better welder than me, we can handle it. I can handle the price tag of a few bead lock kit's pretty easy, a new wheel or 2 isn't out of the question but you need at least 6 wheels, see where I'm going here.

point me some where if you can I've been looking at 4x4 sites haven't found anything yet or if you've done it speak up, maybe it's time to be more than a lurker on shorttrackthunder? I'd ask on 4m but I can't get to that site from this computer.

So after doing a little homework by adding beadlocks to the wheels I have they will be widened to just about 10 inches. looks like I figured out a way to save myself a few hundred bucks. I wish these discoveries didn't always involve so much of my own sweat, but I guess it's worth more than money. next fathers day remind me to thank Dad for always making me do it myself when I was a kid, I wouldn't even be able to afford to race if I had to buy new stuff all the time because I couldn't swing a wrench or strike an arc.
