Isn't this the same as a 350 block, or did the 327 have a shorter deck height or something else.

Anything else that was different on something that old?

It's a good block, and I'm not sure if I should keep it or sell it.

It used the small journal crank. I think they gave the 68 350 the small journal crank and changed it mid year so the 69 350's all used the large journal crank.

all 327's before 1968 were small journal crankshafts. they changed to large journal in 1968 and built them for 2 more years. i have never seen a small journal 350 block. i heard the '67' 350's were small journal, but i had a chance to disassemble one once and it was a large journal. it doesn't look like there is much demand for the 327's, however, it is becoming popular to use smaller journals in racing.

I know Honda rod journals are popular, but I'm not sure I like the idea of a smaller main journal than a 350. Wouldn't that make for a weaker crank?

i don't think smaller journals make the crank weaker. you should have the same type of oiling concerns. but, i would imagine the honda journal cranks are made of better material. what makes a crank weak, is the longer strokes. it really sets the rods journals out from the crank centerline. that's one reason stock 400 chevy cranks aren't good for racing. they tend to break between the rod and crank journals. mostly 7 and 8 rod journal and the one of the rear crank journals

not sure if this will help you but check here. www.mortec.com

I think I'm just going to try and sell it. It's been stored well, and it's machined, so it should be worth something to the right person.

Thanks,

My buddy has a 327 small journal crank that's been sittin for years, or you could drop a 283 crank in like Chevy did and make a 302 if you know somebody with one of them lying aound. or your best bet like you said, sell it to somebody restoring a Vette or something like that.
