Yep, mods ran there in 2004 and our very own Governor, Dan Logan spanked the USA Modified regulars that night!!!!!! It's one of my favorite racing memories!
I think you will see plenty of modifieds in action that night. It will be a mix of guys that have and have not been there before and it should be great.

cant tell ya much. ive only raced there once, it was a short carear, but ya just turn left for the whole track. 2 differant corners but if your set up rite you can run hi or low. most passing done low out of 4 or hi into 1. i think most guys run 4.86 to 5.11 gears. rob gray know more than i do. just looked at website and it says 1200 to win fri. and 2000 on sat. not bad for 40 laps. there is also a thur. practice frim 2-8p.m. no haulers in the pits so plan wisely. pits will be crowded. 7 differant divisons of cars. first come first served for pit stalls other than berlin regulars. check out berlins website for more info or boyne at berlin website also.

Ought to be a good race, I really like Berlin. The track looks simple enough to drive but it sure isn't. Skinny tired high powered modifieds would make it all the more interesting.

Berlin is one of the most difficult tracks in the Midwest to learn how to drive. Most of the big guys say it takes 4 weeks to learn the lines, etc. I have seen many win races all over the State and haul to Berlin and then never make the show.
The thing the modified drivers have going for them is that all of you will be on an even playing field since modified's do not run there on a weekly basis. If you were hauling down there to run their Super division, then it would be a different ball game. That track is tough to learn in one night and the competition is tough in that division. But most will be learning the track with you and for those that have raced there, they need to relearn the track.
My suggestion is find a weekly regular there who is one of the top drivers in their respective division and get some pointers from them. Stand down in turns 3 and 4 and watch how the fast guys are getting through the turns and do the same for 1 and 2. There are typically a couple places on the track you want to set up your passes, watch the regulars to see where they are at.
Some of the best at Berlin will tell you horsepower will kill you on this track. It is not a horsepower track, its a drivers track. Once you learn to drive Berlin, you will love the layout and the track itself. It's unique, fast and most drivers will tell you a whole lot of fun.
If you want to increase your chances then find a good regular there that runs the track weekly and get some pointers from them. The majority of the drivers there are really nice guys and will help you out.

I watched some guy named Earnhardt who by most accounts was pretty darn good back an ASA car into the turn three wall at Berlin. If you've never been there, you are in for a treat. If you are driving there for the first time, well remember about old Ironhead and pay real good attention you'll have a good time too. I would like to give it a shot some time.

If your not almost in the dirt in 4,then you aren't going to be as fast as those that are. But Chris is right, it is a pain to learn, but once you get it you will be OK.. Watch out for Logan, he was the last one to win there, and I'm not sure if there are any USA boys running now that were there then. JB was on Windtunnel Sunday night and he echoed the same thing, the tack is tough to learn and even he said he struggled for the first two years.. Might even be one of those nights to hire a gun if need be..There are a lot of good Super Stock, and Sportsman drivers that have that weekend off.

sort of only not as big, maybe even a cross between Tri City and Auto City only well it's just a really neat race track. just as a fan observer. your grand dad was a heck of a driver, I would have to use his input from that aspect.

Berlin Raceway from google Earth. for those that have never seen it. Big E called it, a "lil' ol' round track". Legend has it they are still trying to find ths single best way to get around it.

I have read no where that a driver would only be allowed to race one car.. You mean to tell me if JB wasn't racing a truck somewhere, and he brought his LM to race, I couldn't hire him ?? Some how I just don't think that would happen.

according to berlin rules a driver can go up in class but not down. so if jb came with his late model he could not go down to a super stock. not sure if he could get in a cra car or a mod as these are not berlins regular divisions. again im not sure if any driver will be aloud to drive more than 1 division. feel free to contac the track or the promote at there websites.

Hey everybody! Good to hear some discussion for our event coming up in September! We are very excited and it seems to grow by the day. Below is a informational flyer. We are paying $1,200-to-win on Friday and
$2,000-to-win on Saturday night!
It was also asked if a driver would be able to run more than one division. It is indeed a Berlin rule that a driver may not step down a class (Late Model to Super Stock), but for the Boyne we will allow: CRA / Modified / Outlaw Late Model drivers to cross-over and run more than one class. For example, Bubba Brooks will be bringing both his Modified as well as his Outlaw Late Model to race.
Let me know if there are any questions and I will do my best to answer them. Also...lots of information on our website:

Thanks guys for your interest and we look forward to seeing all of you on Sept. 12 & 13!

Been asked to clarify how many divisions a driver may compete in.
A Modified, Outlaw Late Model, or CRA driver may compete in any 1, 2, or all three of those feature events. A Late Model driver cannot drop down and run Super Stock or lower. (Points purposes)
