I was wondering if anyone knows why some of the local tracks arnt working together and tring to get a set of rules together that are more similar so thier are less things to do to your car. I think that if they did they would ultimatley would have a better turn out I know that Mike and Joe wont talk to eachother about it but what about Owwoso and Witemore or somewhere else I am and would be more likely to try other tracks if I didnt have to change add weight and other things with time limited between Fridays and Saturdays which we all know if their were a more standardized rule book so all I had to do was chane stager and rear gear I would be willing to drive other areas I know a few other people out thier feel the same way as I do so I was thinking that more people could post what they think and maybe by next season we may get some of these tracks can talk to each other and make racing more fun and profitable for everyone and expanding all the drivers learning new tracks and becoming better drivers and making more friends

Yes, it would be great if tracks would do that, but sometimes they can't see the forest thru the trees. You have K'zoo and Berlin on the west side with their unique rules, Dixie with it's unique rules and Auto City, Owosso, Spartan and Springport with their combination of Dixie's and K'zoo's rules.

The kicker is that you can't go from one track to another, because each owner is out to prove a point. Only the owners know what the point is.. They all still refuse to work together. They don't seem to understand they are only hurting themselves by doing this.

The owners top all of this off by NOT enforcing the rules they have, allowing rough driving and rewarding those who cheat by changing the rules to suit the cheaters.

The only person who was willing to step up to the plate and try to commonize a set of rules was Joe from Auto City when he decided to run on Fridays, when the Kern's to switch to Saturdays. Everything was cool until the Kern's decided to switch back to Fridays and screw Auto City.

Although the owners are winning their own small battles, they are losing the overall war with the dwindling car counts. But, what do I know? I bought a car so I can go racing on Friday's and Saturdays, but no track wants me to race both days....

I am looking just to have the option to race more than one night nut thier is to much work to get that to happen imo well for me it is anyways. I toally agree i guess what can we do as drivers to help our track owners see the forest through the trees
stinkfist
Same reason Joe waited till 5pm to call the show two weeks ago. They fear that if they attempt to work together one will take the others cars. Its silly! Jeff and Rick are doing well due to the respect and friendship they offer competitors. You combine that with 60 bucks to start in the pures and 150 to win, and that is why Ive been trying to race there. Its not because I dont like AC. I love it, but sometimes I think theres no long term thought going on by some of the individuals involved. Plus AC will run every class through tech in 15 min and keep PS in tech for an hour all stinking year. They continue to tech the crap out of 1 class. Why? Were all tired and I understand having a hard tech once in a while but damn............. Im glad Im slow!

Michigan dirt tracks have standardized street stock and Late model rules, the mods are split between 3 sanctions so you kind of have to pick one if you don't want to have a whole bunch of different tires. so there is your answer. Go dirt racing, they get it pretty good.

Rocky,, If you think dirt racing is the answer I'd have to question that.. I've spent 27 years on the dirt, and there is just as many bitchs as there are for the asphalt guys, you just don't hear them on here. I really don't think the asphalt mods have it all that bad as far as rules. True they could be a little more common, but you will NEVER get the tire deals away from the promotor.. The rest could be real easy to take care of, if everybody had there head on straight.

If you want to go racing where something is common,, Try Silver Crown. 97% of those cars are Beast Chassis with Chevy motors. All are coil over,no spoiler, all on the same tire, all have aluminum heads.. See that is even better yet.

hey I know it isn't perfect, nothing is, I have plenty of complaints about the dirt track I race at but I can definitely run a modified from that track at I96 if I want to. or a late model. 27 years on dirt, you have me smoked I'm only 31 years old. I know enough to know every race track is pretty much the same with politics and BS in the pits. Dad raced at Auto City and Dixie for years, he never did jack but we were there and I learned what it's about. the guy says man I wish I could run my car at more than one track without changing much. I brought up MSPA common rules.

If you want proof that I know dirt isn't perfect. Last Spring I went to a track on the other side of Maryland like 6 hours it took me one way because the rules were identical to my track. The tech man there waited till after the heat to tell me my car, most specifically my front wheels were illegal. when I pointed out that by the rule book said they were legal, he says don't tell me what the rules are son, I am the tech man. Now I wanted to tell him maybe he should read his rules some time. but I didn't I asked well can I start on the tail of the feature, make that 35th in a 15 lap race. I had to put my junk spares on the car, now my stagger was wrong my ride heights were wrong my roll centers were wrong AND I had to start about 10 spots further back than I earned in the heat back with the dangerous guys. SO all in all it was a lousy racing experience but a great learning experience. I learned I should have went to Winchester, VA where the rules say open competition, can't argue that. So that's a tale of 2 dirt tracks, which have identical rules and are operated by the same guy which are totally different. Son of a bitches were heated me and my buddy Brian showed up from down south fast. so you can always have that happen. People were looking at my car like Charlie Swartz built it and it is fairly trick but it isn't all that exotic. Enough with my rambling.

Did your dad race AC when it was a real race track (DIRT) ? if so we probably raced together. Use to make the trip from Ionia every Saturday night for almost 3 years,, back when the muddslinger was real and on dirt.. Now if you COULD get Charlie or his son to build you car, you can go kick butt..

No he didn't start racing till like '89 late bloomer. I used to go there when it was dirt as a little kid. Jay Woolworth is his best freind though and he's like family to me, so yep you've raced against my Uncle Jay. That track I told the story about is Allegheny County Speedway, Cumberland, Md. it's a big old 5/8 mile fairgrounds track like Ionia. And yes I sure would like to have a Swartz race car. I'll get my revenge on those guys yet. LOL
Kevin 05
Ionia fairgrounds is where I got started,, Ionia Friday night Auto city Saturday,, and back in the old days the big O on Sunday when it was dirt.. And yes I raced against both Jay and Dale, Jim Nagy and Frank Lamp all guys from your area.. Ah the good old days when Dirt was fun.

Rocky,

I am a bit confused as to why you are always posting such great things about the dirt tracks in the pavement section of this forum. Everyone knows you like dirt racing but, could you please limit the dirt discussions to the Dirt forum? After all, this is the pavement section and if we want to know about dirt tracking, we all can look there for information.

Thanks....RZ

Like I was saying, the guy asks why are rules different, I point out where there are uniform rules. let's be honest, I also like asphalt racing. I would watch some chickens race if that's all the racing there was and I sure would like to see the things that are helping dirt tracks succeed brought to asphalt. there is no more to it than that. I usually don't come in this section and stay in the general section. sorry I will make new effort to close my mouth or move to the other section.
