I was thinking about all the odd little habits that I have picked up that have something to do with me being a "racer" and I wondered what odd habits other "racers" have. From what I've learned in a short time we all seem to be somewhat unique! (Thats the nice way of putting it at least!)
So does anyone else ever.......
Race people up stairs even though the other person is not racing?
Try to learn all the local drivers names and numbers so they can announce the race in their head as they watch?
Go to races by themselves?
Drive over two hours just to watch a race?
Make it a goal to visit every operating track in the state?
Pretend they are in a race when they are on the expressway and announce it?
Think about racing 90% of the day?
Occasionly enter their "street car" through the window instead of the door? (This ones the best, the looks on unsuspecting patrons faces is pricless!)
Those are the ones of mine that I can think of right now. What are some of the things you other "racers" do?

Well i drive 5+hours to attend lots of races we live in the U.P. and our home track runs on Friday's so it gives us time to lots of places on Sat.
here is a few I can think of
set your work schedule by the race season
make plans with my wife only if it does not interefere with racing(she loves that)
bring the whole faimly on vacation (and see how many tracks you can attend)
skip the dog food for the week just to buy race fuel lol...
Just a few off the top of my head

Even better yet, Chad Goff and I bowl on a league together, and when you start relating racing to bowling you know it's in your blood....
Throw the ball alittle to fast and miss the pocket... ya I drove that one down in there alittle too deep..
Ball isn't hooking quite enough for some reason.... yeah she's alittle tight getting in..
Throw a gutter ball.. well I just stuffed that one in the fence in the middle of the straight..
I know exactly where you are coming from.. it's in our blood.. we can't help it.. we are our own breed that's for sure.. lol

Set your stagger on your riding lawn mower and only make left hand turns!

No.... I have never ever done any of these things........ ever...... yes I have, dammit you saw right through me soon as I said no didn't you.
I once towed a Mini Stock Hours one way for a hundred dollar to win race through the Allegheny mountains with a borrowed Jeep Cherokee, on a car dolly that my sponsor borrowed for me.

Does it count if you think your riding mower looks more like a modified because the front fenders have been removed?
How about seeing how close to the back of your buddys car you can draft on the freeway?
Do you remember phone numbers by race car numbers?
"Call me at area code Kenny Wallace-Tom Jones, Johnson, Stewart, Kurt Busch, Edwards. (810-482-0299)
I know Flipper thinks hes racing at Owendale during the slippery winter months, driving in deep and tossing it sideways
around the intersections.

I'll spit out "Remember Me?" along with the little wave that Cole Trickle does in days of thunder as I'm bump drafting any where.. down the road or on the track. lol
I so only mow making left hand turns. it just isn't right turning right on a lawn mower.
I also love annoucing the figure 8 races I watch. I don't remember who exactly it was. Back when I was younger. lol like back in the early 90's at Spartan there was an annoucer that would start yelling when they got close in the X "Here they come towards the X... LOOOOK OUT!!!" And for some reason that has stuck with me since then... every time there is a close one in the intersection I'm yelling.. "LOOOK OUT!" lol
Also.. how many of you can still spit out almost every line of the movie Days of Thunder?? I know I can!

That would be Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame Announcer, Gary Lindahl (voice over).
One of the best ever and still going today at Flat Rock Speedway and Toledo Speedway.
That was back when the "Motor City Madmen" traveled from Flat Rock to tracks around the state
Those cars and the guys at Flat Rock and Toledo are the REAL Figure 8s!
No offense to the current group of Figure 8 drivers at Auto City, Dixie, and Spartan, but absolutely no other kind of Figure 8 racing comes even remotely close to the "Motor City Madmen"

You are terrible! You're going to get me in trouble.
I remember another, my first ever race the guy we were supposed to borrow the trailer from was unexpectedly using it, so we scrambled around for a while trying to figure something out, even went to look at a couple to buy locally and no one answered the phone, we ended up renting a u-haul trailer around 5pm and throwing the car on that. We arrived at the track at around 7pm, no hot laps, never practiced, the car had never even been on the track and the first racing experience I got was an actual race. (BAD IDEA)
The looks on the other racers faces when I pulled up with a u-haul trailer was great!!!
