so with drakes refusal to be teched did he have enough points to win the championship after being disqualifyed.
Drake Racing
Yes spencer had clinched the championship last week. and with that championship being clinched last week i have to take the fall for this one. with the michigan cup being ABC and other races around the area for the end of the season in which we would have to run as an ABC car or a street stock i took it upon myself to find a new cam that would help things out. we ran into vacuum problems and were not able to make vacuum, after starting the day out being able to pass the vacuum test. however i do not exactly agree with my fathers decision of refusing to be teched. that car has passed tech all year and it was my poor decision in selecting a camshaft for the end of season specials. so i will have to take the fall for failing tech. but now it's out to the shop for a fun filled night of oil and busted knuckles.

I would like to send out a special congratulations to Leroy Ellis on a well deserved championship. This is a perfect example of a driver/owner with no sponsorship overcoming the money game. He has raced for 16 yrs and finally got a championship after a great consistant season. He won the big ones(Wild Child 100 and Racin & Rockin 4) along with many fast times and features. Even after he was taken out of one feature he came back and battled his way to the Spartan Speedway Championship. Way to go Leroy. You and Wanda deffinitley deserved it.

Also great season to Jimmy Gallagher for his first championship

Rick,

I saw this post and the post in the other thread by MD* and I'm having a hard time digesting this is the whole story.

I know Joe "Dirt" Bates to be a very clean driver... and one of the nicest guys in the pits.

I have raced with Joe for years and would consider him to be one of the good guys both on and off the track. I'd consider him a friend also.. so I'm bias in this and I'll admit that right up front.

In fact, I'd say Joe and Dan are very much the same kind of driver.. passionate and with strong desires to win.

I would be right here saying the same thing about Dan if someone said they saw him drive someone into the wall on purpose.. I just would have a hard time believing Dan could do that.. and I am having a hard time believing Joe did that... especially on purpose.

I'm sure in the heat of a championship night and all that things might have been a little bit fiery, but now with the night behind you, do you still think the same ?

Anyone else who was at the track have an opinion ?

A career season for the Ovid, Michigan driver!

Won the Charlie Ryan Jr. Memorial and now the 2008 Spartan Speedway Super Late Model Track Championship! Congratulations!!!!

Although he now "resides" in Dimondale everyone knows he's from Ovid. biggrin.gif

I think this is just the start of his career. I think Jimmy has been running against a very stellar group of veteran drivers in this class. I knew it would come sooner or later. He has a little more patience and a good peice to drive. He's finally at the top of his game.I'm sure there will be some more.

Its always great to see a friend achieve a goal.
WAY TO GO JIMMY!!!!!!!

Wow, congrats Jimmy. That boy has come a LONG, LONG ways over the years. I cannot count the number of cars he owned that he tore up when he first started racing. There was a joke in the pits about whether Jimmy would hit the snack bar that night. He was young, impatient and pretty nuts back then and obviously his maturity has brought him a long ways and tuned him into a good shoe.

I am really happy for him and glad to see he finally made it and collected his championship.

Great job Jimmy.

Jimmy has been racing for YEARS but finally got that FLF car and began being fast, other than his extra curricular racing with a certain driver he probably would have done better in other years. Just my opinion.
