i was just wondering, has anybody ever run at a track called riverview speedway in carthage, tennessee? i know it's quite a long ways away, but there are plenty of racers around here who have been around. it looks like an awesome track, and the modified track record is down in the 10 second range.

I think it was 2 years ago that some of the USA cars ran an end of the year race there,so some of them might be able to help. If I remember right the wall on the back straight lifts up to enter the track, at least I think it was that one.

I thought that was Huntsville? Hmmm, maybe not. I've got some friends that have been trying to get me to run a street stock down there. When is the mod race down there, I might use that as an excuse to go.

Gavin,, just looked at there web site, I don't think that is the same place we were at. This is a 1/4 mile track, and I know the one that had the moving wall was bigger than that. I think you are right also about Huntsville or someplace down that way. I remember back in the ICAR days we ran at Peachtree and some place else down that way. I does look like they are USA type mods though, rules say must run track tire (although they don't tell you what that is) The few pictures of mods, they look like they are Goodyears. Off to Canton in the morning to help build an Ark.

It's a very nice track. I was there with the USA Modifieds in 2004 taking their photo's. They call it "Little Bristol".
At that time it was a dry county as well, so if you want to party afterwards you have to go to the next county.
In fact here's a photo of the gate that lifts up by hyd's for racers to leave the track.

It's right next to a river and some of the racers went fishing while we were there for two days.
In fact here I'am in the pits next to the van the USA Mods had back then(See the mountain in the background). Five of us rode down in that van.

Kevin,, Thanks for the picture, I thought it was the same place, but I don't remember it being 1/4 mile, thought it was more like 3/8th. But then I guess the 10 sec. laps times wouldn't work out unless you were really flying.
The other Kevin.

Oh Steve's old van,, if I remember right didn't it rain like hell??

I think it may have rained a little the first day. Man we were sure crammed in that van. One of The track owners at that time sure showed us a good time each night over at a place, that I can't remember the name of in the next county. Boy do those people know how to party!
I think Eddie was his name.

didn't it close down? if so that would be a real shame. it looks like an awesome track i'd like to make it down there. maybe someday.... you can find a few videos on google videos of legends flyin around there, but nothing like sprint cars or late models or modifieds.

It was closed in 2005 ,2006, and 2007 and is open this year. Their last day of racing for the season is October 25th.
