Ron, Do we still have to run 4 225/75/15 or can we mix tire sizes? Staying with all 75 series? Be nice to put some stagger in the car. Tom.

Sep 5 2008, 08:14 AM
Wow no weight rule for the sleds!!! Hey do you guys at Whittemore know that every local track down here lets you run the new style cat aluminum intake? I know that a bunch of cars will show up with them on, so be ready to DQ if you arent going to let the guys run them.

Looks as far as the Led Sleds go, your stopping all of us AC, Dixie, and Owosso guys from coming. Not to mention, Spartan and Springport as well. Maybe you should look into that, and copy the rules from down here. And as far as it being an "Invite" isn't it bring your rulebook, and you're legal. The exhaust is the biggest issue. Our rules read 12" of 2" before and after the muffler.

that does stop all the owosso cars becouse our car has two and a half exhaust on it as well as many others down here. and we was planning on coming up but i guess we just saved some gas money. i will miss the good pancackes they had last year. oh well

The smart move would be to allow 2.5 inch. This makes Owosso, Spartan, and Springport legal.

the smart move would be not to drive as long and go to owossso its the same weekend at it

Owosso classes scheduled on the whittemore invite weekend (9/20/08) is:
Dirt Figure 8's
FWD invitational
Mini Cup Season Championship
Kids Carnival Night.
We specifically left classes off the schedule so people could enjoy Whittemore if they chose to. I believe Whittemore added the exhaust rule to be more dixie ac friendly to even up the competion.
My suggestion is to go to thier website and ask questions in a polite way and get your answers. Good Luck! Jeff

autocity rules =B. Engine must be STOCK !!! See weight rule! Any cubic inch displacement OK G. ABSOLUTELY NO MACHINING OR ALTERING OF ENGINE COMPONENTS ...... >>> so for the aluminum intake thing i dont think any of are car came stock with it unless it was with the 305 or something right
NickJ
Sep 5 2008, 03:53 PM
most of the cars in the 80s came with factory aluminum intakes, they dont flow any better than a cast one, in fact some claim that the older cast iron ones flow the best. Im not really sure why this would be an issue unless its because there is no weight rule for the invatational.
as far as the tires go, im pretty sure owosso and spartan cars are allowed 8in rims and 70 series tires, so cars from that area would be forced to either buy 7in rims, or new 75 series tires, either choice wouldnt be worth the expense if you ask me.

Sep 5 2008, 04:02 PM
I think they should read all the other tracks rules and open their rules up to let more cars run. I raced there in the late models and there was only 20 cars. Not many for an invitational. More west side cars wanted to come over but the leftside rule and adding 150 lbs stopped many of them. The 2bbl rule stopped the rest of them. The factory stock need to open their rules up to allow Ford. the 3 link rule stops newer Fords from running stock links on the rearend. Open it up so dirt street stock can run the race also. It was a good time over there last year and don't be to suprised if you see the blue #11 late model show up again this year

Ok guys the changes are updated in the rules, front shocks may be relocated, 60%left max in the factory stocks,
lead sleds, no performance enhancing engine parts, exhaust must be 2 inch in muffler and 2 inch out of muffler with at least 24 inch long pipe after muffler, as far as a run what you brung thing we did that last year and it was not good for car count, this class is going to be racing for a motor and we want the cars as close as possible We are sorry if this rules out your car, but our rules are a lot closer to dixe and auto city, than they are other tracks. We want everyone to come and have a great time. Maybe you could make a few minor changes to your car and come up. 4cyl guys you can bring your dual overhead cams.

Well the exhaust was the issue I seen and that is better, It should be 12 inches of 2 inch before and 12 inches after the muffler totaling 24 inches. Now we just need to be able to run our 70 series tires cause that is what we run around here at auto city and dixie.

I dont know maybe somebody was messing with me. I KNOW its ILLEGAL at alot of tracks just saying what somebody said. MAYBE somebody that runs their can say for sure

Last year we never put a left side rule in the factory stocks for the invite, we normally run 55%, but it was voted on to just make it 60% for the invite. And also we allow tire soaking at whittemore, I know a couple guys who do soak and they are no faster than the guys who dont soak.
The payout is posted on our website. I heard Bob Robinson bought the 2 lead sled.
We are giving alot of prizes away on the grandstand side for our invite, Big flat screen tv, gas cards, grocery cards, gift certificates, cash, should be big fun for everyone.

So you guys are going to disallow Spartan and Owosso cars? Isnt Owosso supposed to be your sister track. All the guys with the two inch 12 inches before and after the muffler have to do is take off the 12 inch section of 2" and move the muffler. Think about how many cars youll gain by making 2.5" exhauust legal. I know you want (and shoulod ) keep the rules tight, but think about what is the easiest to accomadate the most cars. Allowing 2.5" is the easiest way to accomadate all cars in the area cuz AC and dixie cars already have the 2.5 there they just have 12" of 2" to get rid of. The Owosso and Spartan/Springport cars are all 2.5". I have both cuz I race at AC and Owosso, but most dont.

Chad, I cant speak specifically for the president of Whittemore anymore but I do know they tightened up on the exhaust specifically because of complaints by east side drivers last year that could not keep up as well with the whittemore cars that took advantage of open exhaust rules for the invite. It is there call on what they will do- but they did listen last year.
superfast_86
Sep 9 2008, 03:29 PM
If it were just an exhaust issue, it would be 2 1/2". But there is more than just that rule that seperates Owosso pure stock from Whittemore, Dixie, and Auto City, without drivers having to spend $$$$$ to race 1 time.
