Full Version: Auto City Prices This Weekend MUST READ

Hey everyone,
Its championship night at Auto City for Mods, FS, and Hornets....legends are there too.

Just so everyone knows the website says that members pay $25 this week....non-members $30. Considering there are really only 3 divisions I think this is a complete rip-off. Also considering they have not posted a pay-off or laps for each division.

I e-mailed the track amd asked for this information and have not gotten a reply. If I do I will post it here.

Be prepared to pay more on Saturday.

I talked to Joe on Monday and I know that the Modifieds are running 40 laps for 800.00 to win. I do not know about the other divisions. Joe told me that he had planned on posting the information on the website by COB today. Given the extra laps and purse; I do not have a problem with the slight increase for pit passes.

I agree with you Chuck, as long as it is for all the classes. Hopefully Joe treats all the drivers the same, $25 for a pit passes is not out line for more money and laps. Does anyone know what grandstand prices are going to be??
TT22KH
I don't mind it either....but I would like to know exactly what to expect when I get to the track. I just recieved an e-mail back from the track and the laps and purse are "yet to be determined."

Shouldn't this already be worked out??

$15 for adults in grandstands.
snoverfac32
another nail in the coffin!! :x
mod4
YES, Kyle the pay out and laps should be posted right next to where JOE UP THE PIT PASS on the web site!! I see the Mudslinger info is already out and that race isn't until next week!
circusracer
I always thought they gave extra pay because of the extra laps, more wear and tear on your equipment, more gas to burn, etc. but then again 10 more laps for around 40% more pay isn't so bad for $5.00 more on the pitpass except when to have to pay for your crew to get in.

I have a friend from the Indiana area that would like to come, are radios legal in the modifieds for this weekend???
TT22KH
I am not an official but I believe that no radio's or mirrors are allowed.
G-man
8) They are'nt?
G-man

TT22KH
At least I didn't think so!!!

8) Not legal nope not at all...
TT22KH
Payout/laps are now posted on A/C website for all classes!

Thank you whoever did it.

Here is an idea I had regarding Championship Night in relation to Pit Passes. It is crazy to say the least and would most likely never happen but what the heck.

Reward the DRIVERS from each class. Let's say 1-5 in points the driver gets in free and 6-10 the driver gets in half price. Like is said a crazy idea but just an idea.
jhaydenX
i dont mind paying a lil more ... you might get more back.. id be upset if nothing changed like laps, ect... but the increase is ok when you give us more
cpracer
I have a question. You have raced here all season long, this is your championship night. The owner decides to increase the laps and the pay. Why does the back gate have to pay for the decision?

Do the owners ever think of getting a sponsor to cover an event like this? It always used to be more laps, money and points on championship nights.

Now, they thank you for your dedication by saying, here is more money, now give me more? 8O

If you have 100 cars in the pits and you average about 4 crew people per car lets "do the math"

$5 x 400 = $2,000.00 Thats a heck of a chunk of change.
racinray75
Why dont they let the racers in for free and then let the drivers all decide how much money they want to race for and then pool all there money and go racing. Isnt that what is happening anyway, but the track holds the money. When they raise the purse it is not that impressive if they are just getting the money from us racers. What is impressive is if they raise the purse find a sponser or two and leave our entry the same. If you don't find a sponser then you dont have more laps and bigger purse. I just don't get it. I would pay 100,000 to win at "my track" if you all paid 10,000 to get in and I get at least 15 people! Sound good lol. I play on afootbal board everyweek and they payback all the money that we put in, its pretty cool and all that but I don't have to buy a racecar with my own money so it is worth it for me. And nobody comes and pays to watch me play on my football board either. hmm.

Just bored today lol

you know the really amasing thing here is your only counting the back gate if you do the real math it is $5.00 per person at the back gate and $3.00 a person at the front gate so if your figuring that they make an extra $2,00.00 dollars at the back gate and lets say 1,000 adults show up to watch the race that would be another $3000.00 at the front gate that is $5,000.00 extra they make and then the extra payouts are [now i know i might be a lil off here because i"m not really sure how much the mod usually get or the llm get ] but buy upping the cost for both gates and adding the laps for all classes and there are six divisions here it will cost the track about $1300.00 of the $5,000.00 they are going to make that is an extra $3700.00 in their pockets why would they look for sponsors they already have some it is us that is sponsoring our own race.......i want to see autocity and any other race track that is out there make money....but when is enough,,,,,,,, when is it...... if i take care of my racers they will help take care of me.......if the cost of the back gate go up split all of that money so it goes to the racers the track will make money off of the front gate then i think everyone would be happier......then again i could be wrong someone will say i am against the tracks making money..........
rickyracer
I don't post on here much, but I do lurk alot. This one got my dander up a little.

You guy's are bitchin' about five bucks! Geeez give these tracks a break. I would think we would be happy just to have a track to race at. What's five bucks when you look at your total racing budget? Do you really think it's easy to get sponsors for these races with the current economy?
Where do you think the tracks are going to get the extra money? How many people do you think will be in the stands this wekend when it's 50 degrees?

Because we are usually a support for a "special event" we (the legends cars) are subject to the larger pit fees and our purse never changes. How would you like that? Depending on our car count the payoff could even go down. I hardly ever hear any of our group griping about the pit fees. Yeah we might not like paying the higher fees, but the bottom line is we are just happy to have a place to race. Be happy.

Thank Goodness for your post Rick!!!!!

If everyone thinks that the track is making so much money, then why isn't everyone trying to build or buy one??? You'd think that the way that everyone here does "math", that there would be a waiting list to purchase or build a track with all the money they make.

I understand that it cost a lot of money to field a race car, and to go do something that you enjoy, and that is a HOBBY. It also cost a lot of money to run a BUSINESS. And that is exactly what the difference is between a racer and a promoter. One is running a hobby, and the other is running a business.

I also understand that if there is no cars, there is no racing, and you understand that if there is no track, there is no racing. And by now, we should ALL understand that we all need the other one to survive. Let's all just try and get along, enjoy some racing, and have some fun!!!!

OK, back to work.

rackyracer since you race a class not loyal to any one track we dont expect you to understand not one of us want the track not to make money!! but when you go to other local tracks the pit gate prices rarely change and if thay do you get your moneys worth! do the math who gets the cruise!! wont be any of us! i know let someone spend 10 large on a motor another 10 on a chassis 400 on tires each week to win 300 most nights we do it for love of racing but we never get in for 5.00 little dollers off even if we are there every night all summer long im just saying members should not always carry the burden now go and slam me i can take it after all you cant even see chickens @#$@ for five dollers
racinray75
Well Payouts use to be better than they are now and we paid 15-20 for pitpass. I know I am not offering a solution here but 5 bucks is a big deal when it went from 15 to 20 to 25 now to 30, any payouts stay the same. when do we start whining about only 5.00? I don't care about 5.00 but i care about 30.00 good lord, I can go to a nascar race pretty soon for the price of a pit pass. I know the tracks are struggling and I know it is tough to get sponsers. With that said, promoters with racetracks need to find these solutions, and I don't think this is the answer. Its tough I am sure, but geesh, I dont make any money when I go help work on the car, because there is no money to give on this end.

I don't hear anyone griping how it costs $75.00-$100.00 to see a NASCAR CUP race and extra to go into the pits and NOT have full access. Racing, both spectating and participating, is a luxury and not a necessity.

Does anyone have an idea how much it costs just to pay a purse for an entire night???

I think Orleans has it right. they pay out what comes in the back gate. If you don't bring your buddies to race, you don't get a decent payoff.

It's like bowling. you can get a sponser to pay your sanction fee and still pay X dollars to bowl every week. You can spend a butt load of money to buy state of the art equipment and it still doesn't gaurantee you to bowl any better...depending on how the lanes are oiled. At the end of the year, the top teams get the bulk of the league money....You put up with bad pin bounces and unpredictable oil patterns....yet we do it every year and it is FUN!!!!!

Besides..if you are only usually paying $20.00 a night in a pit pass on a regular night...count your stars!! 25 bucks is the norm for Crystal.

We should all be lucky that we can afford to enjoy this sport and have a place that has the ability to help us showcase those talents.

IMHO charging 5.00 more is wrong most of the drivers showing up for this event are regular driver that competed there on weekly basis. what away to reward these drivers. these drivers have been your bread & butter all season long. these are the guys that put your shows on. these are the guys that have to pay for their own awards banquet to get what they have worked and paid for a year long and it is just not a/c all track do this

TT22KH
Now that I have seen the pay-off its not really that bad. Instead of $50 to start the FS its $75 thats a pretty good increase.

Just curious, what time do the races begin, and what time should I be there. I've never been but would love to check it out. It's a quick dash from Windsor.

Has Auto City cancelled today. I would like to see the Mudslinger even though it says on the website the cost for a regular joe fan is $18 which I feel is a little much but oh well. A friend of mine went back the track around 9 a.m. this morning and no one was there. Just a thought... I predict 12-13 supers at the show tonight.
